Wetland

The springs that give Bluff Spring Fen its characteristic chemistry keep the ground permanently soggy. The grass-like plants that blanket most of the wetter areas are actually sedges. The preserve’s wetlands are the least disturbed of the ecosystems found on the site, and are home to the site’s rarest plants and animals.
